Video: Emerald Crab vs Six Line Wrasse

By • May 14th, 2010 • Category: Fish and Invertebrate, Videos

I’m always intrigued by aquarium videos that actually show some sort of interaction between tank-mates. These types of videos can give aquarium owners a good idea of how certain critters might react to each other when thrown in the same environment.

Emerald crabs are known to go after small fish from time to time, especially as the crabs grow in size. If you are leary about adding an emerald crab to your tank due to safety of smaller fish, this video might give you a good idea why you are not too far off base.

  1. Was the Emerald trying to protect itself or trying to grab the six line Wrasse?

  2. It looks like it might be a combination of both, based on the reactions of both creatures – a mix of curiosity and defense maybe?
